Overview
On April 18, 2007 at approximately 11:00 Hrs a snow and ice storm caused major damage to our distribution system.
In total we have experienced 20 miles of major line damage to the system this includes between 80 and 100 broken poles. This portion of line will require a complete rebuild of the conductor and the majority of the poles.
This storm caused power outages to more than of 600 REA members. After reviewing our data this number has increased to approximately 900 members
We have BRREA staff and ten mutual aid/contract crews working on the repairs. These crews are using the traditional line equipment with five Nodwells to support the difficult terrain due to the weather conditions.
At the current rate of repair we expect to have the majority of the repairs completed by the end of the day on April 20, 2007. (Updated to End of Day April 21, 2007)
BRREA staff have completed inspections on the distribution system to determine the magnitude of the damage.
